Social media course for the University of the Highlands and Islands, Inverness
We got involved in the social media workshops organised by the University of the Highlands and Islands delivered at Inverness College. The course was aimed at learners who wished to gain the skills and knowledge to use social networking.
Topics covered:
Facebook
Setting up a Facebook account, finding friends and joining groups. Using Facebook safely and securely whilst enjoying the full functionality of Facebook.
Instant messaging and Skype
Setting up a Skype account. How to search for friends on Skype and how to use Skype for video, audio and chat.
Twitter
Introduction to Twitter, setting up an account and how to follow people that you are interested in. Twitter lingo, RT, DM, MT, hashtags.
Blogs and following Blogs
Blogs and how they work explained. Blogger and WordPress. How to create, manage and grow a blog.
This course was delivered in the evening over a five week period at Inverness College, Inverness during November and December 2013.
