Pinterest Releases New Data on How The Platform Influences Purchase Behaviour

Did you know that most pinners use Pinterest to research or make purchases?  This infographic is the result of a survey by Pinterest of more than 4,000 weekly pinners and presents some key insights.  A massive 90% of weekly pinners say that Pinterest helps them decide what to purchase.

Instagram Will Now Allow Active Links To Other Profiles, Hashtags in Bio

You can now add a clickable link to hashtags in your Instagram bio, as well as linking to other profiles.  So if you have a branded hashtag, users can click straight from your profile to all posts with that hashtag.

New Google My Business Dashboard for Multiple Listings Rolling Out

Google is rolling out a new dashboard where you can manage multiple listings.  Features such as Posts and Insights are more accessible, and it is easier to navigate.

News Feed FYI: More Local News on Facebook, Globally

Earlier this year, Facebook announced a change in the US to prioritise local news – this has now been expanded worldwide.  Facebook has said it will prioritise “news from sources that are broadly trusted, informative and relevant to local communities”.  Great news if you have a local audience!

How Will Facebook Change in the Wake of the Cambridge Analytica Issue? 

Of course, social media news has been dominated this past week by the controversy around misuse of Facebook’s data.  This article covers some of the updates Facebook has announced in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica issue, such as pausing their app-review process and updating their terms and policies around use of data.

Additional steps were then announced by Facebook to update privacy controls, including an improved settings menu, a new privacy shortcuts menu, plus tools to find, download and delete your Facebook data.
